HOW JOAN OF ARC SHOWED MORAL COURAGE
Joan of Arc Biography
As a young girl Joan of Arc or Jeanne d’arc was very religious she was know in her small town for being just another peasant girl but soon enough she became know as the saver of France, from the Hundred Years’ War. The hundred year’s war was a war mostly between France and England. It was going on for as long as Joan was alive, you can imagine your whole life knowing nothing but war that is what it was like for Joan. Now remember Joan was very spiritual, so much that at the age of just 12 and 13 she started to hear voices of past saints. The saints told her that as you grow up you will need to take a stand for your country and drive the english out of France so thats what Joan did. As Joan got older the voices stay with her.When she was around the age of 18 Joan had gone to the king of France (King Charles the 6th) and got some control over the army a few weeks had past by and it is now april 27 1428 and Joan is leading the french army to the city of orleans were they won after 11 days. By now Joan know and lives the art of war and she feels very confident in her army and herself, so she and her army led to the city of reims. Joan's army massacred the english and she was now know as the hero of France, she went from a peasant girl to the girl who ended the hundred years’ war. However all good things must come to an end in the city Compiegne Joan was finally captured by the english she testify that God had told her to drive the English out but because her judges were of english descent they found her guilty and she was burned at the steak.
Moral Courage:
Joan of arc was a brilliant young woman she was quick to pick up on things and she had many strong traits that lead her to being know for who she really was a strong religious young women. She was brave, religious, hard-working, humble, proud, ruthless, and over all she was determined those are her core values. That show how courageous she was.Joan started young from the beginning she tried to be a very righteous girl. Joan though that she had to take matter in to her own hands in getting the English out of France. At the age of 13 or so Joan began to hear the voices of saint michel, saint margaret and saint catherine of alexandria telling her what to do. The battle of Orleans is what changed Joan’s world because after that she became a war hero. She really showed moral courage because she knew that if the english captured her she would be killed but she also knew that she had to protect France. When Joan was defending France it made the French people feel safer and it gave the people hope of winning the war and that is what changed the course of the war and changed France forever. Joan’s legacy still lives because of her core values and her great accomplishments. over all Joan’s moral courage made the French people feel strong and safe not only did she save France she also committed her life long destiny of driving the English out of France and the voices finally stopped when the english captured her.
Timeline:
1412- Joan of Arc is born and get accepted into christianity.
1425- Joan is out in the field working and begins to hear the voices of 3 different saints
2/13/1429- Joan’s voices tell her to join the army but to do that she must leave her home and dress like a man because women were not able to serve in the army
4/1429- Joan is preempted command of a couple of troops.
4/27/1429- Joan takes her troops in a suicide mission to the siege of orleans after a few days joan attacks with no reinforcements.
5/4/29- Joan is injured in the Battle of Orleans but she continues to fight
8/28/1429- France and Burgundy create a truce lasting for four months and this gives Joan relief
12/1429- King Charles gives Joan and her siblings a high status of nobility
5/1431-Joan is killed by being burned at the steak
5/16/1920- Pope Benedict makes Joan of Arc the Saint of Orleans
